Demie & Tim’s Laid-Back, Fun-Filled Celebration

From an intimate ceremony (micro-wedding vibes) at the historic Kelton House to a casual reception at BrewDog DogTap Columbus, their wedding was personal, meaningful, and refreshingly laid-back. As a Columbus wedding photographer, I love when couples feel empowered to plan a day (or two!) that’s completely true to them—and Demie and Tim did just that.

How It All Began

Demie and Tim met playing in a local softball league, bonding over their shared love of sports. After more than six years together, they decided to tie the knot in a way that felt right for them: intimate, low-key, and nontraditional. Instead of fitting everything into one hectic day, they split their wedding across two dates to fully enjoy each part of the celebration.

May 9: An Intentional Micro-Wedding Ceremony at the Kelton House

The first day was all about their ceremony and the small group of loved ones they wanted by their side. They started the day getting ready at BrewDog—an iconic spot for Columbus beer lovers—and it couldn’t have been more fitting for this laid-back couple. During this time, they shared a quiet first look and exchanged private vows, just the two of them. It was intimate, emotional, and deeply meaningful.

From there, we headed to the beautiful Kelton House in downtown Columbus. Before the ceremony, they did some couple portraits (the staircase photos are some of my all-time favorites!) and shared a private first dance in the bridal suite. It was a sweet moment just for them in the middle of a big day. Their outdoor ceremony was short, sweet, and sunny, with about 20 guests in attendance. A close friend officiated, and after they exchanged vows and sealed it with a kiss, everyone stepped outside for a casual bourbon and champagne toast.

After signing their marriage license and taking wedding party and family portraits, they wrapped up the evening with a relaxed dinner at Grandview Cafe, complete with a simple cake cutting. The whole day felt intentional, calm, and completely “them.”

May 10: A Playful, Community-Focused Reception at BrewDog

The next day was all about fun and community. Demie and Tim returned to BrewDog—this time for a larger celebration with friends and extended family. It was more of a party than a formal reception, and it suited them perfectly.

We kicked off the evening with a few portraits in BrewDog’s lobby, brewery space, and museum. From there, it was all about good food, great beer, and even better company. Guests played card games, cornhole, and board games. There was even a silent auction with original art, including paintings inspired by their engagement photos! One of the cutest details? A custom crossword puzzle full of fun facts about Demie and Tim’s relationship.

There were no formalities—just a room full of people laughing, playing, and celebrating two people they love.
