One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is getting to see my couples’ stories unfold over time. I’ve had the joy of photographing Alexa and Ken through multiple seasons of their lives together – before their wedding, at their courthouse micro-wedding, and now during this incredibly special milestone as they prepare to welcome their baby, Forest!
So when Alexa reached out to share the exciting news that they were expecting their first baby and wanted maternity photos, I was so happy to document this next chapter for them.
As a Columbus Ohio maternity photographer, it’s always such an honor to continue capturing these moments for couples as their families grow. While preparing to welcome baby Forest into the world, Alexa and Ken envisioned maternity photos that felt natural, relaxed, and true to them.
A Relaxed Studio Maternity Session in Columbus
Since Alexa’s pregnancy fell during the winter months, we decided a studio session would be the perfect way to create beautiful maternity photos while staying warm and comfortable. We met at The Que Studio, a beautiful studio space that provides a bright, cozy environment for maternity portraits.
Alexa envisioned a casual and intimate look for her photos that celebrated her growing baby bump. She styled a few different outfits that kept the focus on her pregnancy, including relaxed jeans paired with a beautiful bra and another look with a crop top that showed off her belly. The styling felt effortless and modern while still highlighting such a meaningful season of life.
Including Ken in Their Maternity Photos
Ken joined in for many of the photos as well, which made the session even more special! I always encourage partners to be part of maternity sessions because pregnancy is such a shared experience, and these moments together become such meaningful memories later on.
Their connection and excitement about becoming parents was so evident throughout the entire session!
Meaningful Details for Baby Forest
Alexa also brought along several sentimental items for the session that helped tell the story of their growing family. She brought baby’s breath, ultrasound photos, and the sweetest tiny clothes and shoes for baby Forest!
Watching Families Grow
Sessions like this are one of my favorite parts of being a photographer. There is something incredibly special about staying connected with couples after their wedding day and getting to document the next chapters of their lives!
