Creative Senior Photos in Columbus, Ohio | Reese’s Fashion-Inspired Session

As a Columbus, Ohio senior photographer, one of my favorite parts of this job is getting to continue telling my clients’ stories long after their senior session ends. Reese is one of those clients who has truly come full circle—since her senior photos back in 2022, I’ve had the joy of photographing her and her family every single year. And now, seeing her prepare to graduate from college? It just feels like the perfect time to look back on where it all began.

Reese’s senior session was anything but ordinary and that was exactly the goal.

She knew from the start that she wanted something creative, expressive, and completely unique to her. With plans to pursue a future in fashion, she wanted her session to highlight multiple outfits and really lean into that artistic, style-forward vision. She came prepared with three distinct looks, each with its own personality, and I immediately knew we needed locations that would match that same level of creativity.

That’s how we landed on the vibrant murals in the Franklinton Arts District.

This area is one of my favorite spots for senior photos in Columbus, especially for seniors who want something bold and different. Between the colorful murals and urban surroundings, there’s no shortage of texture, color, and personality. It was the perfect backdrop to complement Reese’s outfits and bring her vision to life.

During her session, we leaned fully into creativity – not just with the locations, but with the way we captured her. I played around with different angles, incorporated lens fractals, and even experimented with slower shutter speeds to create movement and a more artistic feel. Reese absolutely owned every moment. She had such a natural confidence in front of the camera, and it made it so easy to push creative boundaries together.

To make her session even more unique, I suggested ending at Otherworld, one of the most immersive and visually dynamic locations in Columbus.

If you’ve never been, Otherworld is an interactive art experience filled with glowing installations, bold colors, and surreal environments. It does come with a few limitations for photographers (like no flash photography), so I always make sure my seniors know that the lighting and colors in their images will be influenced by the space itself. But honestly? That’s part of the magic.

Reese was completely on board, and I’m so glad she was.

Her images from Otherworld ended up being some of the most unique and eye-catching photos from her entire session. The combination of her fashion-forward outfits and the immersive, colorful lighting created something that felt truly one-of-a-kind.

Looking back now, this session still stands out as one of the most creative senior sessions I’ve photographed in Columbus. And what makes it even more meaningful is everything that came after—getting to continue documenting Reese and her family over the years and now celebrating such a huge milestone as her college graduation.

Reese, it has been such a joy getting to photograph your journey. Watching you grow into who you are today has been so special, and I can’t wait to see where life takes you next.
